Dick and Jane Save Saddam

Here's a report of a heartworming---er, warming---French book which teaches little kids about the current Iraq situation. From the linked "Reuters" article:

The main characters in "Panic in Baghdad" -- David, 15, and Laurianne, 16, -- manage to avert a war in Iraq by escaping from their French embassy homes there to hide in the ruins of ancient Babylon, sparking international panic and forcing the United States to promise not to attack until they are found.

The pair, who escape across the border, are never traced, Washington is forced to hold fire and Iraq is saved from a war.

Says blogger Robert:

Only the French can write a book where the heroes hide before a major military conflict.

Tsk. How simplisme.
